Celebrating the Pony Express

In an age of e-mail, instant messaging, texting and twitter it's hard to imagine the world 150 years ago when keeping in touch was not that easy.

April 3rd, 2011 marks the 151th Anniversary of the "Pony Express" and we are celebrating by sharing art, designs and products inspired by this adventurous part of American history.

To learn more about this piece of history, please check out the the official "Pony Express" museum and other related links below this post.

Pony Express
10 days to San Francisco!
Pony Express...letters delivered to San Francisco in 10 days! This piece of historical ephemera recalls the all important pony express from the 1800's. The Pony Express was a fast mail service crossing the Great Plains, the Rocky Mountains, and the High Sierras from St. Joseph, Missouri, to Sacramento, California, from April 3, 1860 to October 1861. It became the west's most direct means of east-west communication before the telegraph and was vital for tying California closely with the Union just before the American Civil War.
